Adopt a Smile is a new program from the Junior League of Ogden in partnership with Midtown Community Health Center, McKay-Dee Hospital, Weber State University and participating dentists. It is an expansion of our existing Dental Days program.

Dental Days was created in 2011 to provide dental treatment for under-served and non-insured children and give them the resources to continue their dental care. Over the years, Dental Day coordinators and dentists recognized that more and more families were using this event as the only source of dental care and treatment for their children.

A local dentist and Dental Days volunteer, Dr. Boyd Simkins, came up with the idea to provide a “dental home” for children; and, therefore, move beyond the reliance of Dental Days. The program would provide dental services to the patient as well as provide education on oral hygiene, preventative care and maintenance. Dentists in the Adopt a Smile program provide free dental care for children through the age of 18.

To apply, applicants must have attended a Dental Days screening within the past year, be between the ages of two and 17 and live in Ogden/Weber County. If accepted into the program, the child will be “adopted” by a local dentist. Adopted patients are required to participate in preventative care, educational courses, community service and other yearly stipulations.
